Svalbard

In June 2025, I fulfilled a long-cherished childhood dream: I spent a week on the island of Spitsbergen, part of the Svalbard archipelago. At the same time, this excursion marked my return to bird photography. My “target species” and main motivation for the trip was the Little Auk (Alle alle). Not only was I able to observe this auk extensively, but I was also amazed at how numerous and easy it was to photograph iconic bird species and reindeer in the immediate vicinity of Longyearbyen.
